{"id":2199,"date":"2026-04-08T10:14:39","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T14:14:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsouthconference.com\/baseball\/?p=2199"},"modified":"2026-04-08T10:14:39","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T14:14:39","slug":"lighthouse-takes-doubleheader-from-sbc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsouthconference.com\/baseball\/2026\/04\/08\/lighthouse-takes-doubleheader-from-sbc\/","title":{"rendered":"Lighthouse Takes Doubleheader from SBC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>MILTON, Fl.<\/strong> &#8211; Brandon Williams powered a grand slam to left field to lead Lighthouse Christian past Southeastern Baptist College 6-2 in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Southeastern Baptist got on the board in the top of the fifth inning after Dilon Booth was struck by a pitch, and Jeremiah McKinney walked, each scoring one run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Makos flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was the grand slam to left field by Williams that drove in four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carlos Brown earned the win for Makos. The pitcher gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking four. Hagen Marse collected the save. Jordan Luckie and Jay Jefferson each collected two hits for Makos. Luckie stole two bases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second game, Luckie\u00a0drove in six runs on three hits to lead Lighthouse to a big 20-9 victory.\u00a0Luckie\u00a0doubled in the second scoring three, singled in the fourth scoring two, and singled in the fourth scoring one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bats blistered as\u00a0the Makos\u00a0collected 14 hits and\u00a0the Chargers tallied seven in the high-scoring game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Southeastern got on the board in the top of the first inning after\u00a0Matthew Villanueva\u00a0homered to left field, scoring two runs,\u00a0Noah Soto\u00a0singled, scoring one run, and\u00a0Baley Brogan\u00a0singled, scoring one run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LCC\u00a0tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a walk by\u00a0Gavin DeRoche, and a double by\u00a0Luckie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lighthouse broke it open in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 16 runs on 12 hits to take the lead, 20-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by\u00a0Jefferson\u00a0that drove in three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SBC scored five runs on one hit in the top of the fifth inning.\u00a0Gordon\u00a0doubled, scoring one run,\u00a0Wynn\u00a0drew a walk, scoring one run,\u00a0Baley Brogan\u00a0hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one, and a wild pitch scored two more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabe Brown\u00a0earned the win for\u00a0Makos. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and four runs over four innings, striking out five and walking two.\u00a0Williams\u00a0and\u00a0Chase Moore\u00a0each appeared in relief for\u00a0Makos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lighthouse amassed 14 hits in the game with Ethan\u00a0Lopez\u00a0and\u00a0Luckie\u00a0with three each and Trey Hughes\u00a0collecting two hits.
