In a vote of the league’s coaches, Millennia Atlantic’s Willie Vazquez has been selected as the New South Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Willie turned around the program in his first year at MAU, leading the Macaws to a 21-7 overall record and 12-4 in the NSAC, earning the Macaws the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament. He also coached Sergio Hernandez to Player of the Year honors.<\/p>\n\n\n

Prior to coming to Millennia, Willie served as the assistant athletic director and head baseball coach at Atlantis, overseeing personnel, evaluating systems, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with university regulations. His leadership resulted in the team excelling both on the field and in the classroom, achieving a GPA of 3.1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to Atlantis University, Willie served as the Head Baseball Coach at Miami Springs Senior High School, where he was named 2014 District Coach of the Year. During his tenure, the team achieved a 39-30 record, winning a District Title for the first time in seven years and making two regional appearances. Willie also placed 15 players in college for baseball, demonstrating a commitment to player development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Complementing his experience in athletics, Willie has served as a firefighter and paramedic for the city of Miami since 2004, providing responsive fire rescue services essential to public health and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
