HAMPTON, Va. –\u00a0<\/strong>Fifth-ranked Apprentice swept through Saturday’s doubleheader against No. 7 Bucks County Community College, winning 16-0 in five before a 10-4 win in game two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Builders (11-2 overall, 2-0 NSAC) piled on runs early and often in game one, putting up eight runs on just five hits and two Centurion errors.\u00a0Nolan Edwards<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0got things started with a double that plated two, and\u00a0Matt Phoebus<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0also plated a pair on a bases loaded single in the frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apprentice added three more runs in the second after again loading up the bases before a five-run third, highlighted by a Hunter Johnson<\/a><\/dfn> RBI triple that put the score at 13-0 at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isaac McCallister<\/a><\/dfn> earned the win, throwing a complete game of five innings, allowing just one hit and eight strikeouts without surrendering a walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In game two, the Centurions (0-2) came out looking for revenge, scoring four runs in the top of the first, but the Builders answered with nine of their own in the bottom half of the inning.\u00a0Cianan Moaratty<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0and\u00a0Connor Gregory<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0had back-to-back doubles that plated two each before\u00a0Jeremy Harmon<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0tripled to bring in the ninth run of the frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moaratty brought home the game’s final run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly, plating Justin Bradshaw<\/a><\/dfn>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Logan Earley<\/a><\/dfn> got the win, tossing five innings and fanning seven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Builders and Centurions will meet again Sunday at 12 p.m. for another doubleheader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
