PENSACOLA, Fl. – In a surprise announcement, reigning men’s basketball champion coach Vando Becheli has left Lighthouse Christian College, new Makos athletic director Ricky Broxson said on Friday. “It was a mutual parting of the ways,” said Broxson.

Becheli led the Makos to their first NSAC title on March 1. He was named conference coach of the year in 2024. Under Becheli, LCC has only lost one NSAC regular season game in its two seasons in the league. He founded the program in 2022.

Broxson announced that assistant coach Morris Jones has been named interim head coach. Broxson had been assistant AD under Wayne Albury, who recently departed to become head baseball coach at Baptist University of Florida.
