S4C Men, Beacon Women Claim NSAC Titles

PELION, S.C. – The SC Central Christian men and Beacon College women took top honors in Saturday’s inaugural New South Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships.

The Gladiators claimed the men’s overall title with a dominating score of 85 followed Denmark Tech (16), Beacon (12), and URBE (1). The women’s competitions were more hotly contested with the Blazers pulling out a 49-43 win over S4C, followed by Denmark Tech (5).

Antwon Graham of SC Central was named the men’s MVP while Beacon’s Jaylen Williams took the women’s honors.

S4C’s Demond Logan and Beacon’s Tony Wrice were awarded men’s and women’s coach of the year, respectively.

Inaugural T&F Championship Set for Saturday

PELION, S.C. – For the first time, the New South Athletic Conference will host a track & field championship meet on Saturday, April 18.

“Needless to say, we are beyond excited to add track & field to the conference lineup,” said commissioner Mike Davis. “Including both men’s and women’s teams, this brings the number of NSAC sports offerings to ten. That means more student-athletes than ever before will be able to compete and achieve their dreams. It’s going to be a great day.”

SC Central Christian College is the host for the event, being held at Pelion High School, 600 Lydia Drive, Pelion, South Carolina. Along with the Gladiators, Beacon College, Denmark Tech, and URBE University will also be present.

Admission is $10 for adults (ages 16 and up) at the gate. Field events will begin at 11:00 am with track events starting at noon.
