HIALEAH GARDENS, Fl. – Gianmario Fernandez posted a career-best 22 points to lead URBE to a commanding 89-66 NSAC win over Beacon Friday night.
It was a back and forth first half with UU (15-1 overall, 6-0 NSAC) taking a 44-37 lead into halftime. The Blazers came out of the break hot on a 14-4 run to retake the lead by three.
That’s when Fernandez turned it on, scoring 19 points in the second half on 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc and 7-of12 from the field. The Tigers ended the game on a 34-10 run, fueled by relentless defense and balanced scoring, to close out the win.
Luis Carias poured in 16 points and Ronal Hodelin chalked a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Chris Lampkins made his NSAC debut for Beacon (8-9, 4-3) with 22 points and five boards. Noah Wilhelm added 15.
