Atlantis Splits Doubleheader with Daytona Beach

MIAMI — Atlantis University split a doubleheader with Daytona Beach Christian on Saturday, with DBCU using a late rally to win the opener 7-4 before Atlantis responded with a 7-0 shutout in Game 2.

In the first game, AU outhit Daytona 10-5 but could not hold a late lead. The Seraphim opened the scoring on a wild pitch in the first inning and added another run in the second for a 2-0 advantage. Atlantis tied it in the third on Romel Guerrero’s RBI single and took a 3-2 lead in the sixth when Adrian Astudillo singled home a run.

Daytona Beach answered decisively in the seventh, scoring five runs on three hits to take control for good.

Atlantis bounced back in the second game behind a combined shutout from three pitchers. Victor Encarnacion earned the win, allowing one hit over three innings. Ethan Brito and Francisco Bracho combined for four scoreless innings in relief.

Adrian Astudillo went 4 for 4 as Atlantis collected 12 hits and four stolen bases.
